WW2 US Army 8th Air Force Corps patch. During WW2, S Army Air Forces activated from Savannah, GA. The 8th AF used B-17 Flying Fortress and B-24 Liberator flying mostly daylight raids, escorted by their “little friends.” The total unit had over 200,000 people, 2000 bombers, and 1000 fighters on a single mission. This is how they became known as “The Mighty Eighth.” I have other WW2 memorabilia listed as my husband’s great uncle fought in the BotB.
